On Friday, May 1st, The Kentucky Oaks, the most prestigious Grade I stakes race for three-year-old Thoroughbred fillies takes place.  On Saturday, May 2nd, the stage is set for the Kentucky Derby, also known as "The Run for the Roses".  The Kentucky Derby is the most famous race for three year-old thoroughbreds in the world.
